A Shift
written by Chris Hartenstein, Podcasts from Wild at Heart Ministries
Well, the summer is over, fall is soon coming to an end and winter will be upon us. Seasons come and seasons go. In the last eighteen months, we have been living through COVID, an unprecedented cultural and social upheaval, church shifts, school changes, etc. It’s been intense and nothing like many of us have ever endured in the past. It’s a part of life and it is “sorta” ok. It “can be” good, but it is most definitely hard.
So how do we handle these changes? How do we handle the trauma, uncertainty, forced paces, and unpredictability of our culture and society? How have we handled our hearts and the hearts of others during this time?
As a family, we have worked really hard to create predictable patterns and rhythms that build stability and consistency; times of rest and sabbath through all the seasons, whether in Ohio or Montana. But recently as we came back to Ohio from our summer in Montana, we realized we are still pretty worn out, struggling for joy, having trouble with the pace and feeling overwhelmed with the expectations of life. We have felt out of breath...constantly! A little dazed and confused, our good Dad brought us some much-needed perspective and relief.
We were recently blessed to have some time to listen to some podcasts from Wild at Heart. The links are below. We, our family, would recommend you listen to them! Take them to heart, talk as a family, and make some healthy changes. For us, it was life-giving and freeing...that is good fruit! We had some honest and caring conversations and we “gave ourselves” a break on how fast we need to recover from the last season of life. We are finally catching our breath!
We hope and pray you find life here too!
