For over ten years, The New Frontier has existed to call men and their sons into a deeper life—one rooted in identity, healing, and the strength that comes from walking with Jesus. We’ve seen lives restored, families reconnected, and faith awakened in the mountains of Montana and beyond. And through it all, one thing has become clear:
We were never meant to do this alone.
Every time I stand beside a man on the trail, I’m reminded how desperate the world is for strong, wholehearted men—men who know who they are and who walk in the power of God’s love. Our mission is to help them discover that.

A journey that has lasting impact
"The New Frontier started over a decade ago, out of our family's (the Hartensteins) growing faith. Ruth and I (Chris) needed our own growth in the Father's love and wanted to lead our children into the same. Through our family rhythms in Montana and the ways we taught our kids, The New Frontier was born, so that others might experience the Father's love and the transformation that comes with living in it. When you choose to give to The New Frontier, you are helping dads and sons become the men that God has designed them to be by encountering his heart."
Why we need your help Today
The ministry is expanding. Over the last several years, God has been leading us on many adventures. First, it was to purchase a new property that would allow us to host trips year-round. Since acquiring Cherut Ranch, we've increased our trip offerings (with more to come). The timing was ordained because we are experiencing a dramatic increase in interest!
Next year (2026), over three weeks of the Heroic Journey are already full, and there are more than forty SETS of dads and sons on the waitlist for 2027.
God is at work in the lives of men, and we need your help to serve more! In the next three years, we hope to have the Cherut Ranch in use 50% of the year.
