The Mighty Men Adventure
How Do I become the man God created me to be?
The Mighty Men Adventure is an annual men’s (21 and up) trip to Montana led by Chris Hartenstein (co-founder of TNF) and various other guest speakers. Over eight days, men step into intimacy with God and explore their stories through the lens of beloved sonship. They engage in activities such as hiking, fly fishing, horseback riding, calibration, story/teaching sessions, and wound discovery/healing. All of these experiences create a highly relational environment where men can step into their identity and story with confidence and community.

Adventure Information
On the Mighty Men adventure, Men will...
- Walk On A Firm Foundation "Identity is the trailhead of life's journey because our mission, community, and code flow from who we are." If we want to live well, we must find an unchanging answer to "Who am I?" We believe "I am a beloved son" is that foundational answer. We can learn why we are here, where we belong, and how to live through a relationship with our good-hearted, heavenly Dad.
- Understand Our Stories. Our stories are balls of thread: chaotic, unending, and confusing. But the confusion doesn't have to have the final word. Our heavenly Dad wants to walk us through our stories and unveil the wounds, agreements, and strongholds that keep us from living life at its best. He wants to heal, nurture, and mature us as sons into the men he created us to be.
- Know How To Live Each Day. Culture says life is about doing. It pushes men to perform in work, school, and relationships. But no man finds deep satisfaction in this. Life as a son shifts our perspective: "As I learn to be and live as a son, I become a real man." To "do," we must first learn how to "be." Intimacy with your heavenly Dad gives us everything we need to know how to take the next step on our path.
- Learn to lead their homes well. Every man wants to be a good father, husband, and leader, but many don't realize that leadership begins when we learn to follow. Leading our family well looks like following our heavenly Dad and working alongside him to love those he puts in our care. Only He knows our families well, and only he knows the path that leads to life at its best. He wants to lead us there, but we must learn to follow him first.
Adventure Topics Include...
- Identity - Who am I? Who do I let answer that question in my life? Who does God say I am?
- Mission - How do I pursue my kids well? How do I pursue my wife or my significant other well? What does a family mission look like?
- Community - Where do I belong? How do I engage with God, my family, peers, friends, or significant other in this stage of life? What does healthy community look like? How do I build it where I am at?
- Code - How do I live out my identity, mission, and purpose daily (at work, with my significant other, at home, etc.)? How do I build and maintain intimacy with my heavenly Dad?
Additional Opportunity: Turn Your Adventure Into A Journey...
This additional offering is not mandatory, but we've found the best Montana experiences actually begin at home. If men opt to turn their adventure into a journey, they will engage in rhythms that begin laying a foundation for our discussions in Montana. If you make your Advanced Adventure a journey, you will:
- Prepare your heart for the trip! Montana will be amazing, but this adventure can begin before you arrive in Big Sky. We want to help you receive all God has for you. To do that, we've developed a process to help you prepare for time out West. This process is not mandatory, but it is worth it! The preparation takes about two months. If you opt in, you will read Fathered by God, written by John Eldredge, and Prodigal God, written by Timothy Keller. These books lay a strong foundation for our conversations about intimacy with God and help you see where you are on your journey.
- Continue the adventure even after the trip! The trip to Montana is a small portion of your story with God. We want to help you continue to live life with Him. So, after the trip, you can engage in two more months, where you will read Waking the Dead by John Eldredge and Winning the War in Your Mind by Craig Groeschel. These books will help you practice practical ways of living with God at home! Again, this is not mandatory, but we know it will yield incredible fruit if you step into it!
- Engage in a huddle after the trip. This post-trip opportunity depends on the trip participants' commitments, but Chris offers the chance to spend a few months as a group diving deeper into the Montana content and what we call Rhythms of Sonship. Life doesn't happen in Montana. It happens at home. Our huddles allow you to step back into life with support from a solid community.
