Operation 8 Ball Discussion Questions
Welcome back, agents. We hope your mission was a success (not really. We hope it was a total failure and a GREAT laugh). Debrief together by discussing these questions.
- What was your favorite part about the adventure?
- What was your least favorite part about the adventure?
- Did the magic eight-ball get you to your destination?
- How did you feel when you chose to listen to the magic 8 ball, knowing it wouldn't get you to your destination? Frustrated, angry, annoyed, exasperated, etc.
- Would you have ever reached your chosen destination using the magic eight-ball? Why or why not?
- Is the magic eight-ball a trustworthy source? Is the magic eight-ball a more trustworthy source than the GPS? Why or why not?
- Would you ever ask a magic eight-ball any important questions about life and follow its answers? Why or why not?
- Take a moment and imagine you took every major life question to a magic eight-ball. Questions like: What friends should I have?, Where should I go to college?, What degree should I choose?, Who should I marry?, Should I quit my job?, Should I move to a new state?, etc. What would your life look like? Play that scenario out together.
- Take a moment and imagine taking ANY small life question to a magic eight-ball. Questions like: What should I eat for dinner tonight?, Should I go see this movie?, Should I buy a hamburger or a hotdog? Should I play Brawl Stars or Fortnite? Etc. What would your life look like? Play that out together.
- Did this adventure help you see the importance of what sources you let answer your identity and manhood questions? Describe why choosing the True Source is so important in your own words.
- God is our most trusted Source because He is our Creator. How many of life's questions do you take to him vs "the magic 8 balls" of life? Why do you think that is? Discuss that together.
- What would it look like to take your daily questions to God as your True Source vs "the magic 8 balls" of life? What practical steps could you take as father and son?
